What to Do When Involved in A Car Collision

They say it is always better to be prepared, and emergency situations such as fire and car collisions are just some of those emergency situations we constantly need to be prepared for because these events do not just cause damages to property, they may also take lives. In the case of an earthquake for instance, we are always told to take cover under a sturdy piece of furniture like the dining table for instance. But what do we do when we are involved in a vehicle collision?

In case of a major car collision, it is always necessary that you dial 911 to call for help in case someone has been injured or the collision may cause further damages to people and property. In case of a minor collision when it is clear that no one is injured and the only damages are on property, then an emergency call to 911 may not be necessary although you may still need to call the police so as to make certain that their assistance is not necessary and if they can point you out to the nearest car collision reporting center.

After informing the proper authorities, all parties involved in the incident should also exchange information and contact numbers including full names, phone numbers, insurance companies and other such details. They are then required to bring their vehicle to the nearest collision reporting center they can find, better it done within the next 24 hours. If your car was towed, you also need to go to the collision center to file it. You should also bring with you proper documentations such as your driver's license, certificate of ownership of the car, registration forms, insurance forms and others. You should also keep in mind that filing a report at a collision center is a free service and does not require you to pay any fees.
